  1. Do NOT insure with this company. I paid over £70 last June for an Annual Platinum policy and paid extra to waive the excess, so that if I needed to make a claim, there would be no problem. After all, the advertising blurb above states ‘total peace of mind’. There is a clause to pay out for prebooked items like hotel and transfers, if the holiday has to be abandoned due to poor weather conditions and NO exclusion clause for natural disasters. Clearly, they could honour their promise to customers if they chose, like Direct Line and many other decent insurers. They didn’t even answer the queries in my email, just sent out a bog standard response. It’s not as if they would lose any money, because they just recoup it the following year by bumping up prices. I’m going to the Financial Ombudsman and I strongly advise everyone NOT to use this company. Check out the on-line forums!

  2. I would NOT recommend Insure and Go to anyone. Due to the recent volcanic ash problem, I expected my holiday to be cancelled so I rang my insurer, Insure and Go. I was surprised to hear from the agent I spoke to that they are classing the problem as adverse weather and that I am covered should my cancellation be confirmed. Anyway, the following day I got the cancellation and then phoned Insure and Go again. This time they said I was not covered as its a volcanic eruption not adverse weather. I told them that I was advised they day before that I was covered and the woman on the phone very sheepishly told me their underwriters have instructed them NOT to class it as adverse weather. So ringing them to find out where I stood was a complete waste of time as they move the goal posts at their convenience. Please avoid using this company as they have no morals. Put your money into a company that has shown they do actually care about their customers. Search the net, there are plent of insurers that have excelled themselves under these extraordinary circumstances. Others, like Insure and Go have just shown their true colours.

  3. I had a snowboard jacket and iPod stolen at Geneva airport, just as I was going to board a plane. I therefore didn’t have any time to report it to the Swiss, who really didn’t care either way to be honest. Therefore, although everything else was in order, Insure and Go Travel Insurance refused to pay out. On top of all this, it took them five months to actually get round to refusing the claim. Unbelievable!

  4. Made a claim with them a few months ago for a damaged suitcase. I was impressed with the speed and ease of the claim and as such would reccomend them.

  5. The policy gave me what I paid for – I had the misfortune to claim for both medical and baggage, the assistance given whilst abroad was brilliant and both claims dealt with without too much grief – there are good and bad points to every insurance policy. Don’t think one exists that will cover everything unless you want to pay the earth (which I don’t!). For future would recommend that you pay a little more to get an excess waiver, at least if you do have to claim you’ll get close to the full amount.

  6. I had an accident while skiing in Austria, which resulted in the need for emergency surgery. Insure and Go have an exclusion in their policy which states that they will only pay for surgery that their doctor deems essential, which left me very worried as my injury was serious and I was unable to stand up, never mind walk! I went ahead with the surgery and hoped they’d pay. After 7 weeks, they have agreed to pay the cost of my treatment and also the medically related travel expenses. I wouldn’t use them again, I claimed £900 in legitimate expenses and they paid £300. There is a long list of expenses they have decided not to pay, but overall they have been OK.

  7. I have been insured with them for the past two years and had no problems. Their policies are competitively priced but not the cheapest – I paid about £58 for an annual policy this year however plenty of cowboy companies on the internet charge far less. they delivered my documents promptly and also answered the phone quickly when I called them about a claim. I was claiming for lost luggage. The appropriate forms arrived within days, I sent them off with evidence as requested and received my cheque back witihin 3 weeks! I guess I must have been one of the lucky ones. One additional bonus of this company is that you get a credit card with your policy number and useful phone number on to take away with you – I feel this could prove to be a lifesaver in some situations!

  8. Insure and Go travel insurance have been very good up to present! Took out a 1 year world wide Platinum cover…
4 weeks before our first Holiday the wife had to have an operation and we had to cancel. There were a lot of forms to fill in, but the cost was paid out in full.
Rang up to see if we were still covered on the insurance and was told yes!

  9. Had no problems with them.

  10. Very quick and cheap. Getting the insurance was so fast and easy.
